About Bailey

About Bailey *

After being diagnosed with Type 1 at thirteen, Bailey struggled dealing with the lifelong changes and habits of diabetes. In her twenties, Bailey had a pivotal moment where she knew she could either take control of her diabetes management or let it take control of her life completely. After developing erratic habits and feeling completely lost in her understanding, Bailey found herself seeking support to make her feel seen and heard. Realizing that support comes from the community of diabetics and personal circles, rather than the medical side alone, Bailey set out to provide her own system for dealing with diabetes. With the help of online support, habit forming practices, and healing of past diabetic experiences, Bailey has a better understanding and relationship with her diabetes and wants to help others in their journey with the disease, especially those diagnosed as children.

No longer feeling alone in the disease, she is determined to create the environment in which others can thrive in their lives with diabetes by helping not only the diagnosed, but family and friends as well. With a degree in Elementary Education, 24 years of knowledge in diabetes management, and a desire to help others better their relationship with diabetes, Type 1 You was born. Bailey wants diabetics, family, and friends, to know the disease is manageable, and although at times overwhelming, a strong support system makes all the difference in not feeling alone and helpless on the journey.

Bailey’s support system outside of fellow diabetics, includes her husband, Donald, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, and two shepherd mix dogs. Bailey enjoys spending her time with her loved ones, cuddling with the dogs, consuming anything creative including art, interior design, and fashion, and enjoys living in Reno, Nevada while eating all the pasta and tacos she can find. With personal communities along with the expansive community of type 1 diabetics, life is worth enjoying and experiencing. Bailey is here as an example of how to overcome the fear and overwhelming experience of this disease and hopes she can help others start living a full life regardless of diabetes.

Bailey is ready to help you navigate this diagnosis with answers to your questions, guidance and resources!
